I have converted from being disappointed to being dismayed…
with politicians who allow religious zealots to make a mockery of faith
I have converted from being indifferent to being disgusted…
as politicians allow children to be exploited as pawns by religious zealots
I have converted from being tired to being utterly fed-up…
as religious zealots highjack secular institutions all in the name of God
I have converted from being disgusted to being down-right irate…
that religious zealots think they know how God would like us to lead our lives
I have converted from being embarrassed to being shocked…
at how religious zealots have made a mockery of the notion of civility
I have converted from being sceptical to being ashamed…
at how certain politicians have shown no regard for reigning in religious zealots
I have converted from being ambivalent to being resigned…
to the fact that religious zealots and certain politicians are nothing but opportunists
I have converted to being afraid that some politicians are willing to undermine our civic and secular foundations for politician expediency.
Perhaps we’ll all someday learn that it is not so-called religious 'deviationists' that we should fear, but rather religious zealots.
I have converted…
...not from one organised religion to another,
but I have converted.
