We’ve all seen and heard absurd things especially from certain politicians. Oh, have we ever, and I can think of one politician especially who comes to mind. Anyway, I digress. But I must admit, I was puzzled and rather dumbfounded to see that Zambry’s lawyers are in fact appealing the judge Abdul Aziz Abd Rahim’s ruling which affirmed that Nizar is in fact the legitimate mentri besar of Perak.
Well, at first glance, this news about Zambry’s appeal just did not make sense considering, according to a Malaysiakini report, he was ‘quoted in Bernama as saying that he accepted the court's decision with an open heart.’ According to the report, Zambry is to have said, "me and my friends will take the next action according to the law." Well if this was somewhat confusing, surely it’s obvious what Zambry meant when he also reportedly said: "We will pack up and vacate the office as soon as possible." So why exactly has Zambry apparently filed an appeal of the High Court’s decision?
Some things just defy explanation. And then some things just seem to make no sense. Well, just for kicks, here is another story, which for me fits this theme for being rather absurd.
Imagine the audacity of some in the MIC - for example the secretary-general S Subramaniam – to call on the leaders of Hindraf to join the MIC. Subramaniam is apparently all in favour “for a united Indian community” and is interested in ending “whatever bitterness” that has existed between Hindraf and the MIC.
Not surprisingly, M. Manoharan had a truly choice and apt response for Subramaniam when he said that there is just nothing compatible between him and the MIC’s culture. You don’t suppose Subramaniam got the message from Manoharan’s response, do you? It is quite incredible indeed how the MIC just never seems to disappoint when it comes to the absurd and ridiculous.
Consider the above just a little instalment of the bizarre and nonsensical titbits of our world.
